If your Chevy Silverado Work Truck DIC says “Engine Hot A/C Turned Off” and turns the radiator fans on full speed on cold days this is a possible solution to your problem. Your dash thermometer will also fail to read a temperature, it will remain at 160 in the off position. The problem is that the thermostat is faulty.

Hate to think the heads might be cooking, due to a low coolant level, but then I don’t know the design that well to know for sure. My 08 Sierra V6 with 42K miles took 1/2 gallon of Dex-Cool “WHILE RUNNING” & warmed up, and seems fine now.

Stopped unplugging battery to reset and when the weather is cold in the morning the temp guage will start up on it’s own again, but the warmer the day gets or the longer drive the truck it comes back on, very annoying any real answers for the fix out there. I Have the GMC Sierra 3500 HD with a Vortec 6.0L .
