Despite the common belief that cats are solitary animals, they’re actually incredibly social beings who thrive when they have feline friends from an early age. That’s why I always recommend adopting two kittens, or adopting a solo kitten only if you already have another young cat in the home for the kitten to befriend.

Will shelter kill kitten?

Many kittens are born between early spring and late summer, a period known as kitten season. Most shelters are ill-equipped or unable to provide such care, so too often, these kittens are “euthanized.” The smallest neonatal kittens sometimes can’t even survive for more than a few hours without intensive care.

Once you’ve met the cat that’s perfect for your family, there are a few final steps before you’ll be able to take them home.
