Will NexGard work if swallowed whole?
NexGard is a soft, highly palatable chewable that is readily consumed by dogs. It should be given in a manner that encourages the dog to chew rather than swallow the Nexgard whole. NexGard may be broken into pieces and fed to dogs that wold normally swallow treats whole.
How dangerous is NexGard?
Since the release of NexGard, adverse events that have been reported for dogs are listed here in decreasing order of reporting frequency: Vomiting, pruritus, lethargy, diarrhea (with and without blood), anorexia, seizure, hyperactivity/ restlessness, panting, erythema, ataxia, dermatitis (including rash, papules).
Can my dog OD on NexGard?
Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes): No adverse reactions were observed in healthy Beagle puppies over 8 weeks of age when treated with 5 times the maximum dose repeated 6 times at intervals of 2-4 weeks. Diarrhoea and vomiting was observed at approximately 5x overdose (25 mg/kg bodyweight) in Collies.
Can NexGard be broken up?
The medication cannot be split as it is not designed with that in mind. The medication is not evenly distributed into the chew.
Does NexGard have to be chewed to work?
Unlike some treatments, NexGard and NexGard SPECTRA do not need to be given with food. You can choose to give the chew to your dog any time that suits you, with or without food.
Can a dog still get fleas with Nexgard?
Any immature fleas that are in your home or yard when you first give FRONTLINE Plus or NexGard to your pet will continue to develop into full-grown fleas, even after the mature fleas on your pet are killed. Immature fleas may take several weeks to develop and create an exposure risk for your pet.
Do ticks fall off after NexGard?
These oral medications like Nexgard and Bravecto are convenient but they do not prevent ticks from attaching to your dog. Within minutes, the ticks fall off your dog and die, rendering them unable to affect your family or other pets.
