Is it OK to adopt one kitten?
Despite the common belief that cats are solitary animals, they’re actually incredibly social beings who thrive when they have feline friends from an early age. That’s why I always recommend adopting two kittens, or adopting a solo kitten only if you already have another young cat in the home for the kitten to befriend.
Will shelter kill kitten?
Many kittens are born between early spring and late summer, a period known as kitten season. Most shelters are ill-equipped or unable to provide such care, so too often, these kittens are “euthanized.” The smallest neonatal kittens sometimes can’t even survive for more than a few hours without intensive care.

Each year, approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized (1.4 million cats).
Where do cats go after they are adopted from a shelter?
Some of the cats that come into our shelter need medical care, socialization, or in the case of kittens, time to grow up before they can be adopted. These cats are often placed in foster homes where they are cared for temporarily until they’re ready to find a forever home.

How long does it take to adopt a cat from Cat Care Society?
In general, the adoption process takes between 1-2 hours from start to finish. This can change if the cat you’re interested in has special medical or behavioral concerns that will need to be addressed by our staff. Once you’ve met the cat that’s perfect for your family, there are a few final steps before you’ll be able to take them home.
