Can dogs travel on ferry?

Most ferries allow you to leave your dog in your car. If doing so, be aware that it may not be possible to visit your pet during the journey. Most ferry companies recommend the use of on-board kennels if available.

Can dogs go on ferries to Ireland?

Irish Ferries participates in the Pet Travel Scheme. Motorists and foot -passengers may bring their pet with them. All Dogs, Cats and Ferrets travelling under this scheme need a Pet Passport. It is your responsibility to ensure that all the entry conditions are met otherwise your pet will not be allowed to travel.

Can I stay in my car on a CalMac ferry?

The change does not affect any of CalMac’s larger vessels where passengers are not permitted to remain in their vehicles. Currently, CalMac can only allow those passengers who are travelling in ambulances and/or are accompanied by medical staff to travel whilst on the car deck of our major vessels.
