Why should you not put meat and fish in your compost heap?
Decomposing meats, including fish, can produce anaerobic bacteria, which is the archenemy of a normal, aerobic compost pile. These bacteria can interfere with the composting process and cause problems with odors and acidity.
Can you put meat and fish in compost?
Although you can compost any organic material, you should not put animal products, including meat, bones, dairy and eggshells, into your compost bins. This is not because they will not decompose and compost, but because of safety issues with these materials. Meat can also attract animals to your compost pile or bin.
Can cat and dog waste be composted?
There’s a good reason for that: cats and dogs, being omnivores, produce waste that harbors harmful bacteria, things that would make us sick if our food were to come into close contact with it. If you are composting with the intention of using that compost anywhere near edible crops, do not compost dog and cat waste.

Approximately 2 tonnes of fish waste will create a compost windrow measuring 3 metres wide by 10 metres long containing four layers of waste. If abundant sawdust is available, using additional sawdust results in compost that is highly absorbent and can be re-used along with new sawdust in subsequent piles.

Can you bury fish in your garden?
You can grind your fish parts up to make your own fertilizer. We recommend using a hand grinder or stick blender rather than your kitchen blender. It’s easier to clean and can be used as gardening tool and not the kitchen. Then work it into the soil, or you can bury chunks of fish at the roots of your plants.
Why is urine good for compost?
When added to the compost bin, undiluted human urine reduces the time it takes for carbons to break down and increases the nutrient values in the completed compost. To add pee right to your garden, instead of to your compost bin, be sure to dilute to a 10:1 ratio.
Can you put animal poop in compost?
