What does it mean when a leopard gecko raises its tail?
The gecko often raises it, too. This sign means a leopard gecko feels threatened and is about to attack, so separate them right away. Leopard geckos also are tail rattlers, similar to rattlesnakes. If you see your gecko rattle the tip of its tail rapidly, that means your leopard gecko is excited to eat or to mate.

Why do leopard geckos only open up from the top?
The reason for that is because leopard geckos are naturally skittish lizards and will treat anything that they can’t see or are familiar with as a threat. With that said, it’s best to not do what a lot of other leopard gecko owners have done and get a tank that only opens up from the top.
When to take a leopard gecko off of food?
Before, you brumate you will need to take your Leopard gecko off of food for about 10 days so that they are able to pass all their food, but continue to offer water. You can brumate for as little as a couple weeks to 2 months. Cool down your Leopard gecko to about 65-70°F and make sure that you have fresh water in the enclosure the entire time.
How often should leopard geckos change their bedding?
Scoop the waste when it is noticed and change all their bedding at least once a month. Leopard geckos should always have access to a hiding place on the warm and cool side of their habitat. One hiding spot per gecko is a good rule.
